My job is an absolute blast. I get to work with people every day who are following their dreams. And they deal with all these inner demons about being not good enough, or too old, or too ugly, or having no talent. And whether any of us do or don’t have talent is hard to judge but what excites me is that we stand up and try.
And someone somewhere in your life told you: get a real job. Be sensible. Stop dreaming.
Yet I meet these people who keep on trying, and nothing stops them. And bit by bit and year by year, they get more successful. Never as quickly as they imagined, and the breaks are rarely as huge as hoped. But piece by piece we stumble forth until one day, when you look back, and you realise:
Shit,I have a career now, and I made some amazing friends. Some are on the TV, some are on Netflix, some are in crazy weird film festivals, some are making bizarre mad pieces of art and some are in the cinema.
And if you’re not there yet, there’s always tomorrow – or the day after, but only if you stand up and continue to try.
My job is an absolute blast.
