Excited about Cameron Crowe’s New Movie ‘ALOHA’!

I love Cameron Crowe. All of his movies. All of his movies. Not only ‘Jerry Maguire’ and ‘Almost Famous’ but even the ones that got panned, like ‘Elizabethtown’ and ‘We Bought a Zoo’. In fact, I’ve watched ‘We Bought a Zoo’ more in the past year than any other movie.

Here’s a trailer for the new one, ‘Aloha’, starring Bradley Cooper, Rachel McAdams, Emma Stone, Alec Baldwin and BILL MURRAY.

And I just love it! I had a look around the internet and it seems like not a lot of people agree with me, but who cares? When it comes to movies, all that really matters is what resonates with you personally.

Cameron Crowe’s movies get me every time. It’s the small subtle moments (the family whistle in Almost Famous, the way Jerry relates to Ray in Jerry Maguire, how Lloyd Dobler kicks glass out of the way for Diane Court in Say Anything).

I love ‘We Bought a Zoo’. On the surface, a family-friendly-film about running a zoo. Underneath it, a deeply affecting story about grieving and learning to live again. And as for subtle nuanced moments, I just love this clip below:

“Sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage, just literally twenty seconds of embarassing bravery, and I promise you, something great will come of it.”
-We Bought a Zoo.

The leaked Sony emails showed that Amy Pascal, head of Sony, thought the film was shit. But what the hell does she know? Sure, she runs a studio, and knows how to make money, but she doesn’t know what makes people truly love movies.

That’s why I love Cameron Crowe. He stays authentic. His voice as an artist is pure and honest. How many people can you say that about?

“How about a little piece of integrity in this world that is so full of greed and a lack of honourability that I don’t know what to tell my son! Except, ‘Here. Have a look at a guy who isn’t yelling Show me the money.'”
-Jerry Maguire

I will never tire of Cameron Crowe’s work. I just wish he made films more often. There are heaps of opinions about his trailer, many of them negative – and no doubt, the reviews will follow in a similar vein. The thing about reviews is, they’re meaningless. What the critic thinks is not what matters. What matters is how a movie makes you feel. I’m not suggesting you will all love Cameron Crowe’s movies, I’m just saying, I do. His writing is beautiful and his directing brings things out of actors that we never thought possible.

Cameron Crowe is a Golden God. He had me at hello. His is my Ambassador of Kwan. It’s all happening.
